Some useful information regarding the meets, such as venue rules, transport and local amenities.
This list is still being finalised, so do bear with us if its incomplete. If there's anything you'd like us to add, then let us know!
📜 Our Guidelines - Always ensure to follow our Community Guidelines whenever interacting within groups or attending events, linked above! Also available at rules.furmeet.wales
🏢 Venue - We'll predominantly have the space to the right of the entrance by the bar, but if the turnout's good and no events are on then we can move into the concert hall to the left if needs be. Remember that we do not have exclusivity of the venue currently due to costs, so other people not involved with the event may also be present. However, the bar is LGBTQ+ friendly and we've never had any issues to date.
🪪 Identification - Its a bar, so ID will be required by the bar staff to be served alcoholic drinks. As of now, we are not currently conducting our own ID checks (as its not feasible with the open-venue way we run things now), however if you are suspected of being underage, don't be offended if we ask for proof! Your safety is our top priority, no matter what <3
👕 Changing/Suiting - We'd advise bringing a partial if possible, however if you do want to fullsuit then there is ample space for you to change both downstairs and upstairs. We even have an upstairs room we can use for storage, though bear in mind this is not monitored. We will try our very best to keep an eye on it, but we nor the venue cannot be held liable for loss or damage, unfortunately.
🚽 Toilets - an accessible cubicle is on the ground floor, and gender neutral toilets are available upstairs, one with urinals and one with cubicles. The ground floor toilet can be used for changing if necessary.
🍔Food and Drinks - You're allowed to bring bottled water inside the venue, however no other forms of outside drinks are allowed when at Porters (they're a bar after all!). They do serve soft drinks and water is usually provided, as well as the usual assortments of alcohol. They don't serve food, but as its right next to the St Davids Centre you can always pop out to get a bite to eat from the many restaurants within!
🆘 Medical Emergencies - I will be carrying around a first aid kit to treat minor injuries - cuts, bruises and the like. If you have specific requirements that we should know about, such as diabetes or any condition that could suddenly develop, then please inform either me or a member of staff prior to the meets so we can be suitably prepared. We want to make sure you beans stay happy and healthy at all times!
🚝 Trains - The main station is Cardiff Central, a 10 minute walk from the venue. Trains come in to there from all over the place, with direct services coming all the way from Nottingham and all the way from Swansea!
For up-to-date train information, its best to look at your supplier's website, though the most common three trains you'll be taking are GWR, TfW and CrossCountry services. You can find links to check your journey for any scheduled or planned maintenance below!

🚏 Buses - Local buses are best to check via the respective operators' websites, as there's quite a few in and around Cardiff! Your main bus station will be the Cardiff Bus Interchange right opposite the train station (also a 10 minute walk from the venue!).
🚍 Coaches - The two main coach operators are as follows:
🟦 National Express - Your main terminus will be Cardiff - Sophia Gardens, which is a 20 minute walk from the venue.
🟩 FlixBus - Your main terminus will be Cardiff - North Road (Friary Gardens), a slightly shorter ~15 minute walk to the venue and nearer to the main centre.
